Hello! My name is Eric Bazail-Eimil and I am a Cuban-American writer and journalist based in Washington, D.C.
I am a national security reporter at POLITICO, where I co-author the “National Security Daily” newsletter and write breaking national security and defense stories. I joined POLITICO as a 2023-2024 editorial fellow, where I completed rotations on the breaking news, national security and energy desks.
Before POLITICO, I was a politics reporting intern at The Wall Street Journal, where I covered Congress. I also worked at NBC News as an intern for Meet the Press with Chuck Todd and at Reason, the magazine of free markets and free minds, as the Summer 2022 Burton C. Gray Memorial Intern. My writing has appeared in POLITICO, POLITICO Pro, E&E News, The Wall Street Journal, Telemundo, NBC Latino, Reason, The Hoya, RealClear Markets, etc.
I have over three years of experience writing, reporting, and producing some of the biggest stories in politics. My main beats are U.S. politics, national security, immigration policy, and political developments in Latin America and the Caribbean, but I’m always open to covering new stories.
I graduated cum laude from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Service in May 2023. I was also inducted as a member of Theta Alpha Kappa, the national honor society for theology and religious studies. Currently, I am in the process of completing my Master of Arts degree in Latin American Studies at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
I am an active member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. I am a native Spanish speaker and also speak French and Portuguese.
